MRS. pam Shunk

Mrs. Pam was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. After graduating high school, she attended Barkly House Teachers College which specializes in preparation for teaching preschool and kindergarten. She came to the United States at the end of 1979 and studied for a couple of semesters at Point Loma College in San Diego, continuing in Early Childhood Development.
After teaching preschool for a few years in San Diego, Pam and her husband moved to Redmond, Washington. She decided to stay home full time to raise her two young sons. She began a preschool/daycare in her home for a few years. During this time, both her boys attended a wonderful cooperative preschool in Redmond. It was at the Redmond Cooperative Preschool that Pam became familiar with this type of preschool program and as a parent and teacher, enjoyed the fact that she could be so involved with her children’s first school experience.
After moving to Bend in 1993, Pam continued to take care of children in her home. By this time, she had a daughter and when she was ready for preschool, Pam was delighted to find a co-operative preschool for her to attend... which was Sunrise Preschool! When the opportunity to teach at Sunrise preschool presented itself, she took it immediately. Initially, Pam was the teacher for the 3 year old class, but eventually took on the Pre-K class as well. She has spent most of her life working with preschool age children and enjoys every moment of it.
Pam is a wonderfully nurturing teacher who loves to offer fun, and engaging art projects to her students as well as read stories aloud. Among her many, many talents, she is also a skilled musician and often incorporates music via her trusty guitar into circle time lessons.
